Graz - Integrated Reverse & Recycling Logistics
|
| |
Motivation
- Analysis shows a potential to further optimize the collection of domestic waste with regards to service strategy, route optimization and side effects on traffic.
- Uncoordinated waste collection from point sources (industry) is very costly.
Aims
- Improve efficiency (distance travelled per volume collected km/m³)
- Improve specific fuel consumption, emission and wear and tear (ECODRIVING)
Implementation plan
- New service strategies/joining of jobs or services
- On board monitoring devices (monitoring driving style and engine)
- Driver support: route finding, moving maps
- Integrated fleet management system
|
 |
|

|
Approach:
Analysis
- Data/benchmarking (km/m³ or km/t)
- Functional/organisational requirements
Development
- Action model: solutions to improve collecting efficiency to minimize impacts on traffic & neighbourhoods
- System specification
Assessment of the variants
- Cost-Benefit-Analysis
- Feasibility
Planning of the implementation
- Procurement plan
- Test plan functional- & integration testing
- Evaluation plan
Expected Results
- Part of the domestic waste services will have 20% lower distance travelled
- Fuel consumption will be reduced by 5-7% for the point sources (individual jobs)
- Driver support and tracking&tracing will reduce complaints regarding service quality
- Integrated fleet management system will save drivers time for the documentation and allow to better plan the services.
